Aztecs volleyball finish 2-2 at Scottsdale Classic

The Pima Community College volleyball team (3-7) closed out play in the Scottsdale Classic on Saturday at Scottsdale Community College.

The Aztecs went 1-2 in Saturday's competition after winning Friday's match-up with Edmonds Community College.

In their first match of the day, the Aztecs fell in straight sets to Benedictine University at Mesa 25-12, 25-15, 30-28.

The Aztecs rallied back and won a fifth set tie-breaker against Ottawa University 25-20, 25-20, 27-29, 17-25, 15-7.

Pima played a non-conference match against Glendale Community College in their final match of the day and fell in five sets 22-25, 26-24, 25-21, 22-25, 15-9.

Freshman Kaitlin Schmich (Mountain View HS) finished Saturday's competition with 31 kills and 38 digs while sophomore Victoria Davis (Sahuaro HS) had 29 kills and 44 digs.

Sophomore Kayli Riesgo (Cienega HS) posted 126 assists, 45 digs and three aces and fellow sophomore Anissa Conrad (Sahuaro HS) had 103 digs. Sophomore Jamie Ricksecker (Pusch Ridge Christian HS) had five blocks.

The Aztecs will get back to ACCAC conference play on Wednesday when they host Chandler-Gilbert Community College at the West Campus Gymnasium at 7:00 p.m.
