The Pima Community College volleyball team (5-4, 2-0 in ACCAC) picked up a huge win on the road on Friday beating No. 6 ranked Scottsdale Community College (5-2, 2-1).

  • The Aztecs snapped the Artichokes' 4-match winning streak after beating them in straight sets 25-20, 25-21, 25-20.
  • Sophomore Deanna Almaguer finished the match with nine kills and two blocks. Fellow sophomores Kaylee Moseley (Marana HS) and Andrea Vigil-German (Ironwood Ridge HS) each had seven kills. Moseley also had five blocks at the net and Vigil-German was a defensive presence with nine digs.
  • Sophomore Aydalis Felix (Rincon HS) closed out the match with 12 digs and two aces.
  • Coach's Quote: "Tonight was a great team win for us. We have often battled hard against Scottsdale and come up short so it was very gratifying to get this one," Pima volleyball coach Dan Bithell said. "We had some different attackers step up and that really shifted momentum in the middle of the second set. Lots of great contributions from the whole team tonight."

The Aztecs will play at Eastern Arizona College on Wednesday in Thatcher. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
