Aztecs Women's Cross Country Takes Fourth at ACCAC Championships

The Pima Community College women's cross country team competed at the ACCAC championships on Friday at Freestone Park in Gilbert.

  • The Aztecs finished in fourth place with a team score of 99 points. Central Arizona College took first place with 29 points while Mesa Community College took second place with 55 points. Paradise Valley Community College placed third with 61 points. Phoenix College was fifth with 129 points and Glendale Community College was sixth with 130.
  • Freshman Marissa Lopez (Sahuarita HS) was the top finisher for the Aztecs in the 5K (3.1-mile) race as he took 16th place with a time of 21 minutes, 40.6 seconds.
  • Freshman Mykayla Tarwater (Tucson Magnet HS) ctrossed the finish line in 19th place with a time of 22:32.4 while freshman Megan Rasey (Sahuaro HS) took 21st at 22:49.6.
  • Freshman Emalyn Brown (Canyon del Oro HS) placed 28th after she finished at 23:56.3. Freshman Candice Pocase (Santa Rita HS) was 29th at 24:22.7
  • The Aztecs will compete in the Vaquero CAMPY Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 9 at Central Arizona College. The race begins at 7:45 a.m.
