Bruno finishes ninth at the NJCAA Championships

The Pima Community College women's cross country team and representatives of the men's team competed at the NJCAA National Championships on Saturday in Garden City, KS.

  • Sophomore Katherine Bruno (Canyon del Oro HS) finished in ninth place out of 294 competitors in the women's 5K (3.1 miles) with a time of 19 minutes, 27.1 seconds. Freshman Mary Siml was the next finisher for the Aztecs as she placed 34th with time of 20:32.2.
  • The No. 8 ranked women's team took 16th place out of 38 teams in the final standings with 455 points.
  • In the men's 8K (4.97 miles), freshman Luis Tarazon (Desert View HS) was 108th out of 288 runners with a time of 28:50.1. Fellow freshman David Veloz (Pueblo HS) did not finish the race.
