Bio

Years at Pima: 2020
Education: Graduate of Southern Utah University in 2019 receiving two bachelor’s degrees in Economics and History.
Coaching Experience: Coach Bennett was the assistant cross country coach at Marana High School in Fall of 2019. In one season, a new school record in the girls 5k was set, along with the #2 best time for both boys and girls 5k. Both boys and girls cross country teams qualified for state, with the girls having their highest team and individual finish in school history.
Playing Experience: Coach Bennett is a local alumnus of both Marana High School and Pima Community College. At Marana, Mark competed in 4 state championships, and set a school record in the 5k, which he held for 7 years. Bennett later ran for Pima, and represented the Aztecs in 6 NJCAA National Championships, capping off with a 4th place finish in the 10,000m at the 2016 NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. After the success he had at Pima, coach Bennett transferred to Southern Utah University. He helped SUU secure their first conference title at the 2019 Big Sky Outdoor Track & Field Conference Championship. Coach Bennett is still perusing a running career. After graduating from SUU, Bennett took 4th place at the 2019 Utah Valley Half Marathon. Bennett has also recently competed in two USA Championships; 34th at the 2020 USA Cross Country Championships and 17th at his debut 15k at the 2020 USA 15k Championships.
Personal: Coach Bennett served a two year voluntary missionary service, for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in the Texas McAllen Mission and learned Spanish there. Bennett also is a hobby archaeologist and history buff.
