Moncada and Rauer finish in top 10 at Paradise Valley Invitational

The Pima Community College men's golf team closed out the regular season on Tuesday in the Paradise Valley Invitational at the Gainey Ranch Golf Course in Scottsdale.

The Aztecs finished third in the team standings for the second time this season with a two-day score of 592 (299-293). South Mountain Community College placed first with a score of 563 (286-277) while Mesa Community College took second with a 571 (286-285).

Anthony Moncada (Tucson Magnet HS) earned medalist honors and had the best individual score for the Aztecs. He shot a five-under par 67 on the day and finished the tournament with a 143 (76-67). He climbed in the standings from tied for 14th place to tied for fourth. David Rauer, who shot a one-under par 71 on the first day finished with a 146 (71-75) to put him tied for eighth place.

Frankie Wu (Canyon del Oro HS) tied for 21st as he shot a 153 (77-76) for the tournament while Wil Dennis tied for 24th with a 156 (75-81).

The Aztecs will compete in the Region I Championships on Thursday-Sunday, Apr. 23-26 at the Gold Canyon Golf Course (Sidewinder Course) in Gold Canyon, AZ.
