Aztecs Men's Golf Finish in Second Place in Hosted Pima Invitational
The Pima Community College men's golf team hosted the Pima CC Invitational at Silverbell Golf Course on Sunday and Monday.
The Aztecs finished second in the team standings with a two-day total of 563 (281-282). South Mountain Community College took first place with 549 (274-275).
Sophomore David Rauer (Cienega HS) was the top Pima finisher and earned medalist honors as he tied for second place. He finished with a total of 138. He shot a two-under par 68 in the first round and an even-par 70 on Monday.
Sophomore Wilfred Tewawina (Camp Verde HS) shot a one-over par 71 in the first round and a two-over par 72 in the second round for a total of 143. He was tied for eighth place in the individual standings.
Freshman Jonah Daniels (Chaparral HS) had an eight-stroke improvement from his first round as he shot a two-under par 68 on Monday. He finished with a 144 (76-68). Sophomore Will Dennis also finished with a 144 as he shot a two-over par 72 for both rounds. Daniels and Dennis were tied for 11th.
Sophomore Frankie Wu (Canyon del Oro HS) struggled in the second round as he finished tied for 15th with a 145 (70-75).
The Aztecs will play their fourth tournament of the season in the Mesa CC Invitational on Mar. 14-15 at the Dobson Ranch Golf Course in Mesa. The teams will tee off at 7:00 a.m. on the 14th and 11:00 a.m. on the 15th.
