Aztecs Men's Golf Take Second Place at Paradise Valley CC Invitational

The Pima Community College men's golf team fell short atop of the team standings at the Paradise Valley CC Invitational on Tuesday at the Gainey Ranch Golf Course.

The Aztecs finished in second place for the third straight tournament and four-strokes behind South Mountain Community College for first place. Pima showed a seven-stroke improvement as a team in the second round and finished with a two-day total of 581 (294-287). The Cougars had a first place score of 577 (283-294). Eastern Arizona College placed third with 591 (298-293).

Freshman Nick St. Clair (Higley HS) had his best tournament of the season as he finished tied for third among the individual standings with a score of 144. He shot a two-over par 74 on Monday but a two-under par 70 in the second round.

Sophomore Frankie Wu (Canyon del Oro HS) also improved his score from the first round. He shot a 74 on the first day and produced a three-stroke improvement on Tuesday with a one-under par 71. He had a total of 145 which put him in sixth place.

Sophomore David Rauer (Cienega HS) and freshman Jonah Daniels (Chaparral HS) each tied for seventh place at 146. Rauer shot an even-par 72 in the first round but a two-over par 74 on the second day. Daniels shot a 74 on Monday and closed out the tournament with a 72.

The Aztecs will close out the regular season in the Glendale CC Invitational on Apr. 11-12 at the Hillcrest Golf Course in Sun City, AZ. Teams will begin to tee off at 11:00 a.m. on both days.
