Aztecs Men's Golf in Sixth Place After Second Round at NJCAA Nationals

The Pima Community College men's golf team jumped three spots in the team standings after the second round of the NJCAA Division I National Championship on Wednesday.

The Aztecs shot three-under par for the second round and are in sixth place with a two-day total of 579 (294-285).

Sophomore David Rauer (Cienega HS), who was named a first team NJCAA Division I Ping All-American this week, made a significant jump in the individual standings after the second round. He shot a five-under par 67 and is tied for seventh place with a score of 140 (73-67). He started the day tied for 26th.

Sophomore Frankie Wu (Canyon del Oro HS) shot a two-under par 70 in his second round of play and is tied for 14th place with a 143 (73-70).

Sophomore Will Dennis and freshman Nick St. Clair (Higley HS) are both tied for 58th. Dennis has a two-day score of 150 (77-73) as does St. Clair (75-75). Freshman Jonah Daniels has shot a 151 (73-78) for his two rounds of play.

In the first round of action, the Aztecs finished tied for ninth place with a team score of 294. Rauer, Wu and Daniels each shot a one-over par 73 while St. Clair closed out his round with a three-over par 75. Dennis finish with a 77.

The third round of the NJCAA Division I National Championship will be tomorrow at the Duran Golf Club in Melbourne, FL. The Aztecs begin to tee off at 11:50 a.m. (ET).
