Gage ties for fifth place at Scottsdale Invitational

The Pima Community College men's golf team competed at the Scottsdale Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at the Hillcrest Golf Course in Sun City, AZ.

The Aztecs finished in fourth place in the final team standings with a two-day total of 587 (292-295). They shot 11-over par as a team. South Mountain Community College took first place with 556 (279-277), Eastern Arizona College was second with 573 (279-294) and Mesa Community College placed third at 585 (290-295).

Freshman Colton Gage (Cienega HS) shot a 1-under par 71 in the final round and finished tied for fifth place in the individual standings. He shot a 1-over par 73 on Monday and started the day tied for 18th place.

Freshman Cooper Cordova (Mountain View HS) shot a 1-under par 71 in the first round but struggled a bit on Tuesday as he finished tied for 18th place at 147 (71-76).

Sophomores Nick St. Clair (Higley HS) and Jonah Daniels (Chaparral HS) each shot a 151 (74-77) and tied for 30th.

The Aztecs will compete in the Estrella Mountain Invitational on Mar. 7-8 at the Wigwam Golf Course (Heritage) in Litchfield Park, AZ. The teams will tee off at noon on both days.
