Cordova finishes tied for fifth place at Estrella Mountain Invitational

The Pima Community College men's golf team closed out play at the Estrella Mountain Invitational on Wednesday at the Wigwam Golf Course.

The Aztecs took fifth place with a two-day total of 584 (291-293). South Mountain Community College took first place with 558 (278-280) while Mesa Community College placed second with 569 (279-290). The Aztecs finished nine-strokes behind Chandler-Gilbert Community College for fourth place and 12-strokes back from Eastern Arizona College for third place.

Freshman Cooper Cordova (Mountain View HS) finished tied for fifth place after he shot a 3-under par 141. He closed out the first day with a 3-under par 69 and finished the final round at an even-par 72.

Freshman Colton Gage (Cienega HS) tied for ninth place with a 2-under par 142. He shot a 3-under par 69 on Tuesday and finished the second round with a 1-over par 73.

Freshman Johnny Fiore (Marana HS) finished the tournament with a 149 (73-76) while sophomore Nick St. Clair (Higley HS) had an seven-stroke improvement in the second round as he closed it out with a 153 (80-73).

The Aztecs will play their fourth tournament on Mar. 27-28 at the South Mountain Invitational. It will be at the Legacy Golf Resort in Laveen. Teams begin to tee-off at 11:00 a.m. on both days.
