Lozier ties for fifth place at South Mountain Invitational

The Pima Community College men's golf team played in its fourth tournament of the season on Tuesday and Wednesday at the South Mountain Invitational held at the Legacy Golf Resort in Phoenix.

The Aztecs took fifth place with a two-day total of 592 (297-295). The Aztecs finished one-stroke behind Scottsdale Community College (591) for fourth place. Mesa Community College took first place (564), South Mountain Community College placed second with 575 and Eastern Arizona College took third at 581.

Freshman Derek Lozier (Salpointe Catholic HS) finished tied for fifth place as he moved up seven spots in the individual standings after the final round. He shot a two-over par 144 (73-71). Lozier is the third Aztec golfer to finish tied for fifth place in a tournament this season.

Freshman Colton Gage (Cienega HS) was tied for 14th place in the individual standings as he finished with a five-over par 147 (73-74). Freshman Johnny Fiore (Marana HS) tied for 19th place with a two-day score of 149 (75-74) while freshman Cooper Cordova (Mountain View HS) shot a 152 (76-76) and tied for 26th place.

The Aztecs will host the Pima Invitational on Apr. 9-10 at the Silverbell Golf Course. The teams will tee-off at 11:00 a.m. on both days.
