Gonzalez Produces Hat Trick in First Half as Aztecs Men's Soccer Dominate GateWay

The Pima Community College men's soccer team (8-0-2, 8-0-2 in ACCAC) scored five goals in the first half to take command of its game against GateWay Community College.

The Aztecs won 7-1 on Tuesday at the Kino North Grandstand to remain undefeated at home this season.

Sophomore Alejandro Gonzalez (Flowing Wells HS) netted three goals in the first half to help the Aztecs take control. He put Pima on the board in the 11th minute and scored on two more shots in the 17th and 28th minutes. He has seven goals on the season.

Freshman Juan Pablo Segura (Nogales HS) scored a goal in the 18th minute and sophomore Angel Heredia netted his first half goal in the 30th. Freshman Willy Villaman (Tucson Magnet HS) had the assist.

In the second half, freshman Gustavo Ramirez-Gonzalez (Cholla HS) scored a goal on a penalty kick in the 55th minute. Fellow freshman Justin Stoermer (Mountain View HS) scored his goal in the 82nd minute.

The Aztecs outshot GateWay 16-4. Freshman goalkeeper Taylor Anderson (Salpointe Catholic HS) had one save in 34 minutes of play. Freshman James McWilliams (Sahuaro HS) finished the game and had three saves.

The Aztecs begin the second half of the season on Thursday when they play at Arizona Western College in Yuma at 7:00 p.m. The Aztecs beat Arizona Western 3-1 at Kino North Stadium on Sept. 3.
