Romero's Hat Trick Leads Men's Soccer at South Mountain

The Pima Community College men's soccer team (9-1-2, 9-1-2 in ACCAC) got back on track on Saturday after suffering its first defeat.

Sophomore Jason Romero had a hat trick as the Aztecs beat South Mountain Community College 5-1 in Phoenix. He netted goals in the 12th, 29th and 57th minutes. Romero has nine goals scored on the season. He also had an assist in freshman Willy Villaman's goal in the 60th minute. Villaman also assisted in one of Romero's goals.

Sophomore Alejandro Gonzalez (Flowing Wells HS) scored a goal in the 69th minute and also assisted in one of Romero's goals. Freshman Lorenzo Rodriguez also had an assist in the game.

Pima had 17 shots on goal and freshman goalkeeper Taylor Anderson (Salpointe Catholic HS) had two saves. Fellow freshman James McWilliams (Sahuaro HS) finished the game and had one save. The Aztecs swept the regular season series against South Mountain as they won 4-2 at Kino North Stadium.

The Aztecs will be back at Kino North Stadium on Tuesday when they host Phoenix College at 7:00 p.m.
