Rodriguez Scores Game Winner as Men's Soccer Top Phoenix College

The Pima Community College men's soccer team (10-1-2, 10-1-2 in ACCAC) found a way to break a tie late in its game against No. 10 ranked Phoenix College on Tuesday.

Freshman Lorenzo Rodriguez scored the potential game-winning goal in the 83rd minute in Pima's 2-1 win at Kino North Stadium.

The No. 4 ranked Aztecs struck first when sophomore Alejandro Gonzalez (Flowing Wells HS) scored a goal in the 21st minute that was assisted by fellow sophomore Angel Heredia. Phoenix College tied the game early in the second half with a goal in the 59th minute.

Phoenix College outshot the Aztecs 7-3 for the game. Freshman goalkeeper Taylor Anderson (Salpointe Catholic HS) finished with six saves.

The Aztecs will be off for the rest of the week and will play at Glendale Community College next Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.

Pima goals: Gonzalez (Heredia) 21st minute; Rodriguez 83rd minute.
