Aztecs Men's Soccer Dominate and Earn Shutout at Scottsdale CC

The Pima Community College men's soccer team (12-1-2, 12-1-2 in ACCAC) came out and dominated for 90 minutes on Saturday at Scottsdale Community College.

The Aztecs won 7-0 earning their fourth shutout win of the season.

Sophomores Angel Heredia and Jason Romero each scored two goals. Fellow sophomore Alejandro Gonzalez (Flowing Wells HS) put the Aztecs on the board with his goal in the 4th minute with an assist from freshman Lorenzo Rodriguez.

Heredia scored his first goal in the 10th minute that was assisted by sophomore Osvaldo Varela. Rodriguez scored Pima's third goal in the 30th minute and Romero followed eight minute later with his goal that was assisted by Heredia as the Aztecs led 4-0 at the break.

Freshman Kyle VanAlstine (Cienega HS) scored his first goal of the season in the 52nd minute. Romero and Heredia added their second goals in the 53rd and 85th minutes respectively.

The Aztecs outshot Scottsdale 11-2 for the game. Freshman goalkeeper Taylor Anderson (Salpointe Catholic HS) had one save. Fellow freshman goalkeeper James McWilliams (Sahuaro HS) also had one save.

The Aztecs will play their final regular season home game on Tuesday when they host Paradise Valley Community College at the Kino North Stadium. The game is set to start at 7:00 p.m.
