Romero Scores Four Goals, Heredia Has Three Assists as Aztecs Men's Soccer Dominates

The Pima Community College men's soccer team (15-2-2, 15-2-2 in ACCAC) dominated early in the first half in its game against GateWay Community College.

The Aztecs scored five goals in the first 18 minutes in their 9-0 win at the Rose Mofford Sports Complex in Phoenix.

Sophomore Jason Romero scored another four goals which put him at 23 for the season. He scored in the 1st, 2nd, 10th and 35th minutes. Fellow sophomore Angel Heredia had three assists for the game; two on Romero goals. He assisted in sophomore Alejandro Gonzalez's goal in the 13th minute. Heredia also scored a goal of his own in the 18th minute that was assisted by freshman Lorenzo Rodriguez to make it 5-0.

Sophomore Sergio Anaya (Salpointe Catholic HS) netted a goal in the 27th minute that was assisted by fellow sophomore Ryan Bristow (Ironwood Ridge HS). Sophomore Rene Huerta (Tucson Magnet HS) scored in the 85th minute and freshman Guatavo Gonzalez-Ramirez netted his goal in the 86th minute. Sophomore Sadam Ali (Rincon HS) also had two assists.

The Aztecs had 13 shots on goal and freshman Alexis Rincon had one save.

The Aztecs close out the regular season on Saturday at Glendale Community College. The game starts at 1:30 p.m. Pima will be one of the top three seeds for the Region I, Division I tournament next week.
