Mohamed and Lee set national qualifiers at Aztec Invitational

The Pima Community College men's and women's track & field teams hosted the Aztec Invitational at the West Campus on Friday and Saturday.

In men's competition, distance runner Ahmed Mohamed (Rincon HS) set a national indoor qualifying time in the 1,000-meter race as he took second with a time of 2 minutes, 39.47 seconds. Andrew Lee (Benson HS) set his national indoor qualifying mark in the pole vault as he took fourth place with a vault of 14-feet, 3¼ inches.

In women's competition, jumper Meghan Sweeney (Red Mountain HS) improved on her national outdoor qualifying mark in the long jump with a jump of 5-5¼.

The Aztecs now have 13 national tournament qualifying marks and times.

The track & field teams will take a week off from competition and compete on Saturday, Feb. 21 at the Glendale Indoor Invitational at Glendale Community College. The meet will begin at noon.
