Logo and Johnson set qualifiers at Central AZ Indoor Meet

The Pima Community College track & field team competed in their final regular season indoor meet on Saturday at Central Arizona College.

Distance runner Amanuel Logo (Catalina HS) set a national qualifying time in the 800-meter race with a time of 1 minute, 59.58 seconds. He set a national qualifier in the 1,000-meter race last week at Glendale.

Tyler Johnson (Snowflake HS) set his national qualifying mark in the long jump as he took second place with a jump of 23-feet, 7¼ inches.

In other men's track & field action, Luke Ross (Coconino HS) finished first in the high jump with a mark of 6-4¾. Eric Wilcox took first place in the triple jump event with a jump of 44-9. Andrew Lee (Benson HS) finished third in the pole vault with a vault of 13-5¼.

In women's track & field competition, Juliette Cossey (Sandra Day O'Connor HS) was tops in the triple jump as she finished with a 37-6¾ first-place jump. Brianna Rodriguez (Cienega HS) took second in the long jump with a jump of 18-6½.

The Aztecs will take 17 indoor national qualifiers to the NJCAA Indoor National Championships next Friday and Saturday held at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM.
