Alexander sets outdoor national qualifier at Willie Williams Classic

The Pima Community College men's and women's track & field teams competed in the Willie Williams Classic hosted by the University of Arizona at Roy P. Drachman Stadium on Friday and Saturday.

Anfernee Alexander (Santa Cruz Valley Union HS) set an outdoor national qualifier in the discus throw as finished in eighth place with a throw of 159 feet, 7 inches. He also finished second in the hammer throw with a throw of 162-0.

Tyler Johnson (Snowflake HS) took second place in the long jump as he finished with a leap of 23-6¼. Luke Ross (Coconino HS) placed third in the high jump event with a jump of 6-6¾.

In women's competition, Juliette Cossey (Sandra Day O'Connor HS) took third place in the triple jump with a leap of 36-7. Kaysee Pilgrim (Barry Goldwater HS) finished the high jump event in fourth place with a jump of 5-7 while Meghan Sweeney (Red Mountain HS) took fifth at 5-5.

The Aztecs will compete in the Puma Outdoor Distance & Multi Meet at Paradise Valley Community College in Phoenix. Competition will begin on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. Events will continue on Friday and Saturday starting at 10:00 a.m. on both days.
