Pilgrim claims NJCAA National Championship in high jump

The Pima Community College men's and women's track & field teams closed out competition in the NJCAA National Championships at Hutchinson Community College on Saturday in Hutchinson, KS.

Kaysee Pilgrim (Goldwater HS) closed out her Pima career with her third NJCAA National Championship; her first outdoor season national title in the high jump. She sealed it with a mark of 5-feet, 9 inches earning her First Team NJCAA All-American status.

Meghan Sweeney (Red Mountain HS) tied for seventh place in the high jump with a mark of 5-3¼ earning one point for Pima. Jamie Holliday (Sahauro HS) took 10th place in the long jump with a mark of 17-feet, 10¼ inches.

In men's competition, Anfernee Alexander (Santa Cruz Valley Union HS) took eighth place in the discus with a mark of 147-4. His placement earned Pima one point. Alexander was a two-time Region I champion in the discus.

Andrew Lee (Benson HS) finished tied for ninth place in the pole vault with a mark of 14-3¼.

Amanuel Logo (Catalina HS) took 17th in the 5,000 meter race with a time of 15 minutes, 40.00 seconds while Mark Bennett (Marana HS) took 18th with a time of 15:46.75.

The women's team finished in 15th place with 14 points while the men's team tied for 29th with one point.
