Logo and Relay Team Break School Records at Paradise Valley CC

The Pima Community College men's and women's track & field teams found more success at Paradise Valley Community College for the second straight weekend.

The Aztecs set five more indoor national qualifying marks and set two Pima school indoor records.

Sophomore Amanuel Logo (Catalina HS) took second place in the 5,000 meter race with a time of 15 minutes, 27.34 seconds which set a new school record. It was also an indoor and outdoor season national qualifier. This was Logo's second event that he's set an indoor qualifying mark in. He set a qualifying time in the 1,000 meter race last weekend.

Sophomore Ahmed Mohamed (Rincon HS) also set an indoor national qualifying time for his second event as he took second place in the one-mile race with a time of 4:27.20. His other national qualifier is in the 3,000 meter race.

In women's competition, the 4x400 relay team of freshman Amber McCroskey (Buena HS), sophomore Jamie Holliday (Sahuaro HS), freshman Hannah Bartz (Mountain View HS) and freshman Melissa Cotsonas (Mountain View HS) set an indoor Pima school record with a time of 4:02.57. They improved on their national qualifier by four seconds that was set last weekend.

Freshman Katy Loyd (Catalina HS) set two indoor national qualifying times as she finished the one-mile race with a time of 5:34.67 and the 1,000 meter race at 3:15.20.

Sophomore Desire Montenegro (Sunnyside HS) took third place in the 1,000 meter race with a time of 3:12.67 which gave her an indoor national qualifying time.

The Aztecs now have 20 national qualifying marks for the NJCAA Indoor National Championships on Mar. 4-5.

The Aztecs will host the Aztec Indoor Invitational at the West Campus on Friday and Saturday. The meets will start at 10:00 a.m. on both days.
