Bartz breaks two school records at Aztec Indoor Invitational

The Pima Community College men's and women's track & field teams were in action at the West Campus track on Saturday as they hosted the Aztec Indoor Invitational.

The Aztecs set five new national qualifying marks and also improved on a couple.

Sophomore Hannah Bartz (Mountain View HS) stole the show on the day. She took first place and broke a Pima school record in the 60 meter dash finishing with a time of 7.80 seconds. She also set a national qualifying mark. Bartz wasn't finished as she also broke the school record and set a qualifier in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.09. Bartz has qualified for three events already this season. She set a qualifier in the  long jump last week at 18-8.50 (5.70 meters).

In men's competition the distance medley team of freshman Victor Bustamante (Flowing Wells HS), sophomore Alex Palacios (Mountain View HS), Collin Dylia and sophomore David Fernandez (Ironwood Ridge HS) set a national qualifying mark with a time of 10:36.79.

Dylia set another qualifier in the 1,000 meter race after he took first place with a time of 2:40.11.

Sophomore Treyshon Malone (Yuma Catholic HS) earned a qualifier in the long jump after he took second place with a mark of 23-feet, 2.50-inches (7.07 meters).

Freshman Cam Duffy (Peoria HS) improved upon his national qualifying mark in the long jump. He took first place with a jump of 23-3.50 (7.10 meters). His previous mark was 23-1.25 (7.04 meters).

Sophomore Sam Shoultz (Corona del Sol HS) took first place in the high jump at 6-10.75 (2.10 meters) improving his previous mark of 6-8.75 (2.05 meters).

The Aztecs will compete in the GCC/CAC Invitational next Saturday, Feb. 11 in Glendale. The meet begins at 10:00 a.m.
