McCroskey sets new school record at Arizona Indoor Invitational

The Pima Community College men's and women's track & field teams competed in the Arizona Indoor Invitational on Saturday at Glendale Community College.

For the second straight week, the 60 meter dash school record was broken as sophomore Amber McCroskey (Buena HS) finished with a time of 7.79 seconds. She set a national qualifying time in the process. The previous record was held by teammate and fellow sophomore Hannah Bartz (Mountain View HS) at 7.80 seconds.

Freshman Tyra Yanez (Sahuaro HS) set a personal record in the 60 meter race with a time of 7.91. She fell short of the national qualifying time of 7.85.

In men's competition, the 4x400 relay team of sophomores Alan Leyva (Douglas HS), Alex Palacios (Mountain View HS) and freshmen Isaiah Martin (Empire HS) and Emmanuel Doe (Mountain View HS) set an indoor season school record and a national qualifying time of 3 minutes, 19.88 seconds.

Freshman Cornelius Payne Jr. (Mountain Pointe HS) took first place in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.45. He fell just short of the national qualifying mark of 8.43.

The Aztecs will compete at the NAU Tune-Up meet in Flagstaff, AZ on Friday. Events will begin at noon.
