Dylla and Tu-avao set qualifiers at NAU Tune-Up meet

The Pima Community College men's and women's track & field team visited Flagstaff on Saturday to compete in the NAU Tune-Up meet held at the Walkup Skydome.

In men's competition, freshman Colin Dylla (Ironwood Ridge HS) earned a national qualifier in the 800 meter race as he took fifth place with a time of 1 minutes, 58.17 seconds.

Freshman Filimone Tu-avao set his national qualifier in the weight throw as he finished ninth with a throw of 15.72 meters (51-7).

Freshman Jymil Toney (Desert Vista HS) improved on his national qualifier in the high jump as he finished with a mark of 2.05 meters (6-8.75).

In other events, sophomore Sam Shoultz (Corona del Sol HS) matched his season-best mark in the high jump as he took second place. He finished with a jump of 2.10 meters (6-10.75). Freshman Cam Duffy (Peoria HS) finished second in the long jump at 7.03 meters (23-.75) while sophomore Treyshon Malone (Yuma Catholic HS) took third at 6.96 meters (22-10).

The Aztecs now have 16 national qualifying marks.

The Aztecs will compete in the NJCAA Indoor National Championships on March 3-4 at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS.
