Orange scores 19, Chavez flirts with triple-double as Aztecs women's basketball beats ACU JV

The Pima Community College women's basketball team (9-2) stepped away from ACCAC conference play on Monday and hosted Arizona Christian University JV.

  • The No. 7 ranked Aztecs defeated the Firestorm 81-55.
  • The Aztecs held ACU to 16 points in the first half on 6 for 30 shooting. Pima led 44-16 at the break.
  • The Aztecs helped seal the win with an 18-4 run to open the fourth quarter and take a 73-40 lead.
  • Sophomore Nikya Orange (Tanque Verde HS) scored a game-high 19 points after going 7 for 10 from the floor.
  • Freshman Luisayde Chavez (Rio Rico HS) finished the game with 12 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists.
  • Sophomore Melissa Simmons and freshman Matehya Aberle (Holbrook HS) each posted nine points. Freshman Angel Addleman (Palo Verde HS) contributed with eight points, six rebounds and five assists.
  • Freshman Jaslyn Booker (Buena HS) had seven points and 10 rebounds off the bench.
  • The Aztecs will play at Mesa Community College on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
