Aztecs Women's Golf Struggles in First Day at NJCAA National Championship

The Pima Community College women's golf team struggled in the first day of the NJCAA National Championship on Monday at Daytona Beach, FL.

The Aztecs finished the day in 14th place out of 17 teams with a team score of 374 on the LPGA International course.

Freshman Desiree Hong (Sahuaro HS) had the best round for Pima as she finished with a seven-over par 79. She is tied for 19th place in the individual standings.

Sophomore Casey Morinelli (Mountain View HS) and freshman Raquel Converse each finished the day with a 98 while freshman Samantha Hacker (Sahuaro HS) closed out the day with a 99.

The Aztecs will begin to tee off for the second round tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. (ET).
