Aztecs Women's Golf in 11th Place After Third Round of NJCAA Nationals

The Pima Community College women's golf team played almost two rounds on Wednesday due to a weather delay in the NJCAA National Championship.

The Aztecs closed out the third round in 11th place out of 17 teams with a team score of 1082 (374-349-359).

Freshman Desiree Hong (Sahuaro HS) had her worst round of the tournament as she shot an 83. She is in 17th place with a three-day score of 234 (79-72-83).

Freshman Samantha Hacker shot her best round as she finished with an 86. She is tied for 61st after producing a total of 274 (99-89-86). Freshman Adriana Moreno (Cholla HS) has a three day score of 290 (104-87-97) while Raquel Converse has a 293 (89-102-93).

In the second round of play that was made up Wednesday morning, the Aztecs combined for a 25-stroke improvement which moved them to 12th place at the time with a 723 (374-349). Hong shot an even-par 72 for the round, a seven-shot improvement from her first round. Hacker finished with an 89 giving her a two-day total of 188 (99-89). Moreno struggled in the first round but bounced back as she shot a two-day score of 193 (104-89).

The final round of the NJCAA National Championship is in progress at the LPGA International in Daytona Beach, FL.
