Hong Named NJCAA All-American; Aztecs Women's Golf Finish 11th at NJCAA Championship

The Pima Community College women's golf team closed out play in the NJCAA National Championship on Thursday at the LPGA International course in Daytona Beach, FL.

The weather halted play for the final round so scores from the three rounds played, determined the final results.

The Aztecs finished the tournament in 11th place out of 17 teams with a team score of 1082 (374-349-359).

Freshman Desiree Hong (Sahuaro HS) took 17th place with a three-day score of 234 (79-72-83). She was named an NJCAA All-American for the season.

Freshman Samantha Hacker (Sahauro HS) shot her best round on Wednesday and finished tied for 61st with a total of 274 (99-89-86). Freshman Adriana Moreno (Cholla HS) produced a three day score of 290 (104-87-97) while Raquel Converse finished with a 293 (89-102-93).

"Desiree making the All-American team is pretty cool and it was certainly her goal for the season," Pima coach Rick Price said. "I'm excited for her and I'm looking forward to a good season next year."
