Jumper Raelynn Fair and Multi's Athlete Eliza Littlewood Capture Region I Titles

The Pima Community College women's track & field team competed in the first day of the NJCAA Region I Championships on Tuesday at Mesa Community College.

  • The Aztecs sit in first place with 98 points in the team standings. Mesa Community College is second with 68 points while Central Arizona College is in third place with 55. Glendale Community College has 27 points and Paradise Valley Community College rounds out the field with 12.
  • Sophomore Raelynn Fair (South Mountain HS) took first place and won the Region I crown in the long jump with a national qualifying mark of 5.57 meters (18-feet, 3-inches). She earned 10 team points for the Aztecs. The women's team has won the long jump region title in eight of the last nine years.
  • Sophomore Eliza Littlewood (Campo Verde HS) won the heptathlon with a total of 3734 points scoring 10 points for the Aztecs.
  • Freshman Cyndasia Miles (Copper Canyon HS) finished in second place in the long jump with a season-best mark of 5.51 meters (18-feet, 1-inch). She earned eight team points for Pima.
  • Freshman Mykayla Tarwater (Tucson Magnet HS) placed third in the 10,000-meter race and got Pima six points as she finished with a time of 53 minutes, 03.94 seconds.
  • Freshman Lucy Chavez (Bisbee HS) earned third place in the hammer throw with a mark of 36.27 meters (118 feet, 12-inches). The Aztecs got six more team points from that result.

  • Corteaja Andrews (Betty Fairfax HS) – 4th in Heptathlon (2591 points) 5 points
  • Jessica Bright-Schade (Safford HS) – 4th in the Javelin (31.50 meters) 5 points
  • Eliza Littlewood (Campo Verde HS) – 4th in Pole Vault (2.30 meters) 5 points; 4th in Long Jump (5.18 meters) 5 points
  • Akira Jones (St. David HS) – 4th in Hammer Throw (34.65 meters) 5 points
  • Oksana Giron (Sunnyside HS) – 4th in 3,000 meter steeplechase (14:48.50) 5 points
  • Mykayla Tarwater (Tucson Magnet HS), Oksana Giron (Sunnyside HS), Nyah Torres (Millennium HS), Marissa Lopez (Sahuarita HS) – 4th in 4x800 meter relay (11:39.80) 5 points
  • Lucy Chavez (Bisbee HS) – 8th in Javelin (24.61 meters) 1 point
