Aztecs Women's Track & Field takes third place at Region I Championships

The Pima Community College women's track & field team closed out competition at the NJCAA Region I Championships on Thursday in Mesa.

  • The Aztecs finished in third place with a score of 125 points. Mesa Community College placed first with 247 and Central Arizona College took second place with 240 points. The Aztecs beat out Paradise Valley Community College (67), Glendale Community College (61) and Phoenix College (3).
  • Freshman Taylynd Stuhr (Buckeye Union HS) tied for second place in the High Jump with a mark of 1.47 meters (4-feet, 9.75-inches).
  • Freshman Brooke Peterson (Mingus HS) captured the Region I championship in the Pole Vault and sophomore Jessica Bright-Schade (Safford HS) took first place in the Javelin on Tuesday.

The NJCAA Division I National Tournament will be in Hobbs, NM from May 18-20.
