Aztecs Women's Track & Field ties for 17th place at NJCAA National Championships

The Aztecs Women's Track & Field team closed out the 2023 season on Saturday as it tied for 17th place with 13 points at the NJCAA Division I National Championships. The Pima Community College women's track & field team closed out the 2023 season on Saturday at the NJCAA Division I National Championships.

The Aztecs finished tied for 17^th place in the team standings with a score of 13 points.
Freshman Tianna Moseley finished in 15^th place for the Triple Jump with a mark of 11.08 meters (36-feet, 4.25-inches).

Women's Track & Field All-Americans:

Brooke Peterson (Mingus HS) – 2^nd place in the Pole Vault 3.67 meters (12-0.50) (8 points)
Jackie Trice (Williams Field HS) – 5^th place in Heptathlon 4453 points (4 points); 8^th place in Long Jump 5.71 meters (18-8.75) (1 point).
Trice's point total in the Heptathlon ranks her No. 2 in Pima school history. Her personal-best Long Jump of 5.91 meters (19-4.75) puts her No. 6 in school history. She also set a personal-best time in the 100 hurdles during the Heptathlon with a time of 15.36 seconds, which put her in a tie for the No. 8 spot in Pima school history.

"This season was amazing and there were a ton of positives and 53 Top 10 marks; which is the largest improvement in school history and statistically the best year ever at Pima," men's and women's track & field coach Chad Harrison said. "With our strong returning core of freshman, we look to make another run at the Region I Championship, which (on the men's side) would be our third championship in four years. All of our athletes currently have Division I offers on the table or the ability to go to the next level academically and athletically. Academically, this is one of the best years we've had in the history of our program. The coaching staff worked very hard, our athletes worked very hard and we look forward to next year getting our women's team back to the Region I Championship, and winning it, as well as repeating on the men's side. Another amazing year with tons of All-Americans. It's an exciting time for Pima Track & Field."

The Aztecs also produced 12 new school records (11 Indoor, one Outdoor) and 14 All-Americans.
