Larissa Blanchard breaks school reocrd in 100m hurdles as Women's Track sets five national qualifiers to open Outdoor Season

The Pima Community College women's track & field team opened the 2024 Outdoor Season as it set five new NJCAA Outdoor Season national qualifying times/marks at the University of Arizona Spring Break Fiesta and the Mesa Multi's this weekend.

  • Freshman Larissa Blanchard (Perry HS) broke the Pima outdoor school record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.36 seconds. She toppled Nicole Smith's record of 14.47 set in 2007.
  • A pair of sophomores set national qualifiers in the Hammer Throw. Kapualani Magnani (Empire HS) finished with a throw of 45.98 meters (150-feet, 10-inches). Annika Arvayo (Salpointe Catholic HS) placed behind her as she finished with a throw of 45.50 meters (149-3).
  • Freshman Brianne Roberts set her national qualifier in the Pole Vault as she finished with a vault of 3.20 meters (10-6).
  • Sophomore Tianna Moseley improved on her national qualifying mark in the Triple Jump as she cleared 40-feet for the first time in her collegiate career. She finished with a jump of 12.21 meters (40-0.5). Her previous best was 12.10 meters (39-8.5).
  • Freshman Maylee Thompson (Willcox HS) snagged her national qualifier in the Heptatlon on Friday in the Mesa Multi's Meet. She took third place with 4012 points.
  • The Aztecs have nine athletes with national qualifying marks.

The Aztecs will compete in the Willie Williams Invitational held at the Roy P. Drachman Stadium on Friday and Saturday.
