(UPDATE) Pima Athletics and Chapman Automotive partnership press conference on Sept. 20

Pima Community College Athletics will hold a press conference to discuss the three year deal made with Chapman Automotive.

What: Pima Athletics and Chapman Automotive partnership press conference. Chapman Automotive General Manager Neb Yonas and the Director of Marketing Markus Beaumonte will be there as well as Athletic Director Jim Monaco and Pima coaches, staff and adminstrators.

When: Friday, Sept. 20, 2:30 p.m.

Where: Pima West Campus Aztec Gymnasium

The Pima Board of Governors unanimously approved Chapman Automotive's sponsorship of Pima Athletics for three years giving 210,000 in that span. Chapman will also donate 30,000 in academic scholarships to Pima Community College.

• "This is amazing for the Athletics department," Pima Athletic Director Jim Monaco said. "It has given us notoriety as a viable entity for our businesses to invest in. It can only get better from here."
• Markus Beaumonte, the Director of Marketing for Chapman Automotive, has lived in Tucson for 30 years. He expressed that Pima gives students a great education and it "strengthens local economy, the job market and the community."
• "Chapman is proud to be a partner with Pima College Athletics," Beaumonte said. "We've been working on this for a little while and we're glad it came together. We're glad to be part of the local grassroots athletics programs. We're happy to support it.
• "We have been supporting local athletics for 10-12 years and this is a natural extension of this strategy. Pima is a proud, strong school and we're happy to be a part of it. It was very adventitious of them as well."

A couple ideas discussed with this partnership will be a walk of fame listing the All-Americans for each team leading up to the soccer, baseball and softball fields and renaming the area, "The Chapman Automotive Sports Annex at Pima West Campus."
