PCC baseball falls against Cochise College

The Pima Community College baseball team (12-11, 10-8 in ACCAC) have stepped away from ACCAC Conference play this week as it hosts five games at the West Campus.

The Aztecs dropped their first game of the week against Cochise College 8-2 on Tuesday. Pima scored the first two runs of the game but the Cochise offense found its rhythm in the late innings. In the 1st inning, Ivan Estrella (Tucson Magnet HS) hit a triple, which was followed by Trey Stine's (Ironwood Ridge HS) sacrifice-fly RBI. In the 3rd inning, Devin Harrison (Ironwood Ridge HS) scored on a throwing error to put Pima up 2-0. Cochise tied the game in the 5th inning and went on to score three runs in the 6th, two in the 7th and one in the 8th.

Estrella finished the game 2 for 3 with a run scored, a walk and a triple. Harrison went 1 for 3 with a run scored and Stine was 1 for 3 with an RBI and a double.

Daniel Tolano (Cholla HS) pitched in relief and took the loss (0-2) as he went one and one-third innings giving up three runs (three earned) on three hits with three walks. Ryan Norrix (Tucson Magnet HS) started the game and pitched four scoreless innings but finished going four and one-third, giving up two runs (two earned) on four hits with two strikeouts and four walks.

The Aztecs will play Douglas College (Can.) at the West Campus on Thursday in a single game at 10:00 a.m.
