PCC baseball has 15 hits in win against Douglas College

The Pima Community College baseball team (13-11) fell behind early in its game against Douglas College (Canada) but the Aztecs rallied and broke it open in the late innings.

The Aztecs won 12-2 in eight innings as they scored four runs in the 7th inning and three runs in the 8th to close it out.

Trevor Johnson hit an RBI single and Daniel Peters (Sabino HS) hit a two-run RBI single in the 8th to seal the win. Down 1-0, the Aztecs took the lead in the 3rd inning when Trey Stine (Ironwood Ridge HS) hit a two-run RBI double to bring in Devin Harrison (Ironwood Ridge HS) and Ivan Estrella (Tucson Magnet HS). Johnson followed that up with an RBI single to plate Stine and give Pima the 3-1 lead.

Peters finished the game 1 for 4 with three RBIs and a walk. Estrella was 3 for 5 with three runs scored and an RBI. Stine went 3 for 4 with three runs scored, two RBIs, a walk and two doubles. Johnson finished 2 for 3 with two runs scored, two RBIs and two walks.

Chris Kucko (Sahuarita HS) got the win and evened his record (3-3) after he pitched six innings giving up one run (one earned) on three hits with four strikeouts and three walks. Roy Aguirre (Douglas HS) pitched the final two innings giving up one run (one earned) on two hits with one strikeout.

The Aztecs will host Northeastern Junior College (CO.) tomorrow at the West Campus in a single game. The first pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.
