Catalano finishes with 5 RBIs in baseball's win over Northeastern JC

The Pima Community College baseball team (14-11) won a wild offensive game on Friday at the West Campus as the Aztecs defeated Northeastern Junior College (CO) 17-8 in eight innings. The game was called due to darkness.

The Aztecs scored eight runs in the 1st inning as Marcus Catalano (Salpointe Catholic HS), Ruben Bracamontes (Sunnyside HS) and Ivan Estrella (Tucson Magnet HS) each hit two-run RBI singles. Devin Harrison (Ironwood Ridge HS) hit a two-run RBI double in the inning as well. Pima scored three runs in the 3rd inning and four runs in the 4th. Catalano hit another two-run RBI single as part of the 3rd inning and an RBI double in the 4th.

Catalano finished the game 4 for 4 with five RBIs and a run scored. Estrella was also 4 for 4 with four RBIs and three runs scored. Harrison capped off his day going 3 for 5 with three RBIs and four runs scored while Trevor Johnson went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Jaquese Moore (Marcos de Niza HS) was 1 for 2 with three runs scored.

Daniel Tolano (Cholla HS) pitched in relief and picked up the win (2-2) as he threw three and one-third shutout innings giving up two hits with four strikeouts and three walks. Ryan Norrix (Tucson Magnet HS) started the game and went two and two-third innings giving up four runs (four earned) on four hits with one strikeout and seven walks.

The Aztecs will close out the week with a doubleheader tomorrow at the West Campus. They host Monroe Community College (NY) at 11:00 a.m. and then play Arizona Western College at 3:00 p.m.
