Pima Community College baseball player Phillip Sikes was taken in the third day of the Major League Baseball draft on Wednesday.

Sikes, an outfielder/RHP, for the Aztecs this season, was selected in the 33rd round (992 pick) to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Sikes, who hails from Paris, TX, signed his letter of intent to play at Texas Christian University.

In his only season with the Aztecs, Sikes was named first team All-ACCAC conference and first team All-Region I, Division I. He batted .369 with seven home runs, 39 RBIs, 47 runs scored and 16 steals. He also pitched 9.1 innings compiling a 2-1 record with a 0.96 ERA.
