Five Aztecs Baseball players sign NCAA Division I letters of intent

Five members of the Pima Community College baseball program will move on to the next level starting in Fall 2024 as they committed to NCAA Division I teams.

  • (P) Diego Alvarez (Sahuarita HS) – University of New Mexico (w/SAHR in 2002: .452 batting average, 33 hits, 27 RBIs, 18 runs, .954 fielding percentage, 6-2 record, 1.91 ERA in 9 appearances)
  • (C) Caleb Herd (Cienega HS) – University of New Mexico (w/UNM in 2023: 9 games, .429, 7 AB, 3 runs, 3 hits, 1 double, 1 RBI).
  • (OF/P) Antonio Avila (Cleveland HS, NM) – University of Nevada (w/Pima in 2023: 52 games, .272 batting average, 32 runs, 22 RBIs and 24 walks)
  • (P) J.T. Drake (Los Alamos HS, NM) – Texas Tech University (w/ Pima in 2023: 47.2IP, 5-0 record, 2.08 ERA, 15 saves (led NJCAA), 58K's in 25 appearances).
  • (P/1B) Nate Gray (Queen Creek HS) – University of Arizona (w/QC in 2023: 34 games, .345, 39 hits, 24 runs, 11 doubles, 9 home runs, 45 RBIs, 12 walks, 59IP, 5-0 record, 1.31 ERA, 54K's)

The Aztecs begin the 2024 regular season on Friday when they play a non-conference doubleheader at Paradise Valley Community College. First game starts at 11:00 a.m. The Aztecs will host their 2024 home opener on Saturday when they play another two games against the Pumas. First game of the doubleheader starts at 11:00 a.m.
