Hoffman Scores Two TDs but Aztec Football Falls in Offensive Battle at Snow College

The Pima Community College football team (2-3, 1-3 in ACCAC) found themselves in an offensive back-and-forth tug of war on Saturday in Ephraim, UT.

The Aztecs surrendered 27 unanswered points between the third and fourth quarters as they fell at No. 17 ranked Snow College (5-2, 2-2) 43-37.

The Aztecs took a 30-16 lead in the third quarter after freshman quarterback Justin Martin (Pueblo HS) scored on a four-yard touchdown run with 3:04 left in the third quarter. The Badgers scored on three straight possessions to take a 37-30 lead. They scored again with 1:48 left in the game to put the Aztecs behind 43-30.

Martin threw his second touchdown of the game with 48 seconds left to sophomore Caymen Metcalf on a 16-yard reception. Martin threw his first touchdown pass to sophomore Jeff Cotton (Mountain View HS) on a 45-yard strike in the first quarter.

Martin finished the game 15 for 39 for 226 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. He also finished with 15 carries for 95 yards on the ground with one touchdown. Cotton finished the game with nine catches for 128 yards while Metcalf had three catches for 46 yards.

Sophomore Sirgeo Hoffman ran for 78 yards on 33 carries with two touchdowns. His first score came in the first quarter on a three-yard run to put the Aztecs up 13-2. He scored on a one-yard run to close out the second quarter. The Aztecs led 20-16 at halftime.

Sophomore Brandon Yamamoto (Basha HS) had 10 tackles on the day while freshman Beau Griego (Florence HS) had 2.5 tackles-for-loss for 24 yards and a forced fumble. Dominique Fenstermacher (Mountain Pointe HS)) had an interception and a tackle-for-loss for three yards.

The Aztecs will be back at Kino North Stadium next Saturday when they host Arizona Western College at 7:00 p.m. The Aztecs will host "High School Night" at the stadium.
