Pima Community College football player Andru Tovi has committed to continue his collegiate career at the University of Kansas.

Tovi, a 6-3, 310-pound offensive lineman, played in eight games at right guard and graded out at 94 percent this season. He is from Aiea, HI and is currently majoring in Pediatric Neurosurgery.

Coach's Quote: "Kansas came to us and asked if we had any offensive-linemen, which is a rarity at this time," Pima coach Jim Monaco said. "They watched his film and thought he would start immediately for them. I told Andru he needed to go and he couldn't pass up a full ride.

"Andru was ready to go at any time. He thought Pima was a great place. He was a great team leader."

Monaco also said that the University of Arizona, Arizona State University and Fresno State all showed interest for Tovi.

The Pima football season will kick-off on Saturday, Aug. 26 at Trinity Valley Community College I Athens, TX.
