Pima Community College is inviting the public to a forum to discuss the future of the PCC football program.

  • When: March 12, 6 p.m.
  • Where: PCC District Office, 4905 E. Broadway Blvd., C-105

PCC Chancellor Lee D. Lambert, Director of Athletics, Fitness and Wellness Edgar Soto and Head Football Coach Jim Monaco will take part in a discussion with the public about challenges facing the program.

PCC is looking to make a decision soon on the future of the sport, Chancellor Lambert says, citing league viability, cost, long-term viability of the sport, and liability issues as factors being weighed by the College.

Last month, the Maricopa Community College District announced it would end football programs after the 2018 season at its four community colleges that play football: Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa and Glendale.

Says Director of Athletic Soto: "For our players, football has been an important path to college, and our players and coaches have developed lifelong bonds. But the landscape of football in Arizona is changing and Pima is trying to figuring out where we fit in."
