PCC men's basketball season ends at Tohono O'Odham CC
The Pima Community College men's basketball team could not overcome a double digit deficit on Wednesday in its Region I, Division II semifinal game against No. 2 seeded Tohono O'Odham Community College.
The No. 3 seeded Aztecs outscored Tohono O'Odham 47-41 in the second half but fell in the end 80-71 in Sells, AZ. The Aztecs trailed 39-24 at halftime.
Murphy Gershman (Tucson Magnet HS) closed out his Pima playing career with his 20th double-double as he finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds. In Gershman's two years at Pima, he's had 20 double-doubles in each season. Matt O'Boyle (Sunrise Mountain HS) scored a team-high 18 points while Dorian Paige (Palo Verde HS) had 12 points, five assists and five steals. Justice Martion contributed with 11 points off the bench.
For the second straight year under head coach Brian Peabody, the Aztecs advanced to the Region I, Division II tournament.
The Aztecs finished the season with an 18-13 overall record.
