James, Anastasi and Murphy carry load in Aztecs men's basketball's win vs. Chandler-Gilbert CC
The Pima Community College men's basketball team (14-7, 8-5 in ACCAC) flexed its muscles on Saturday at the West Campus as it defeated Chandler-Gilbert Community College (9-12, 4-9).
The Aztecs took a double digit lead at the end of the first half and maintained control as they downed the Coyotes 98-87. The Aztecs swept the regular season meetings against the Coyotes as they won 91-76 in Chandler in November.
Pima led 57-44 at the break and held their biggest lead at 17-points in the second half. The Coyotes got as close as nine points late in the game.
Sophomore Deion James (Empire HS) got his 12th double-double of the season after he finished with a game-high 25 points and 11 rebounds. Fellow sophomore Jacob Anastasi (Cactus Shadows HS) scored 24 points and had seven rebounds and two steals. Freshman Isaiah Murphy (Cienega HS) contributed with 23 points off the bench. He also had seven rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Sophomore Emilio Acedo (Salpointe Catholic HS) also scored in double figures with 11 points.
The Aztecs will play at Glendale Community College on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
