Pickett, Montealegre and Sanchez named All-Conference and All-Region

The Pima Community College men's soccer team got three players named to the All-ACCAC Conference and All-Region teams.

• Freshman defender D'Andre Pickett (Tucson Magnet HS) was selected first team All-ACCAC and first team All-Region I, Division II. He played and started in 14 games this season. He scored one goal and had four assists. Pickett was instrumental in helping the Aztecs secure eight shutout victories during the regular season.
• Freshman forward Jose Luis Martin Montealegre was named second team All-ACCAC and first team All-Region I, Division II. He has played in all 15 games; making 14 starts. Montealegre led the Aztecs with 10 goals scored to go along with three assists for 23 points.
• Freshman midfielder Brandon Sanchez (Canyon del Oro HS) was also selected second team All-ACCAC and first team All-Region I, Division II. He also played in all 15 games; making 14 starts. Sanchez scored seven goals and had four assists for 18 points.
• The Aztecs were second in the ACCAC conference with 58 goals scored and second in goals-allowed with 11. They closed out the regular season and Region I, Division II Playoffs with a 12-2-1 overall record. The Aztecs went 7-1-1 at the West Campus Aztec Field and 5-1 on the road.

The Aztecs fell to Glendale Community College in penalty kicks on Wednesday in the NJCAA Region I, Division II Semifinals. They await the selection show to see if they receive an at-large bid to get into the NJCAA Division II Tournament.
