Freshman defender D'Andre Pickett named First Team NJCAA All-American

Freshman defender D'Andre Pickett (Tucson Magnet HS) was named First Team NJCAA Division II All-American as he became the 19th All-American in the last 17 years. The Pima Community College men's soccer program produced an NJCAA All-American for the 11th straight season as the teams were announced on Tuesday.

  • Freshman defender D'Andre Pickett (Tucson Magnet HS) was named First Team NJCAA Division II All-American.
  • Pickett helped anchor a defense that secured eight shutout victories. He played and started in 16 of the 17 games this season with one goal and four assists.
  • Pickett earned first team All-ACCAC and first team All-Region I, Division II. He was also selected to the NJCAA Division II All-Tournament team.  
  • Pickett joins an impressive group as the Aztecs men's soccer program has produced 19 NJCAA All-Americans in the last 17 years. Some of the previous NJCAA All-Americans include: Nicholas Bianchi (2022), Ernesto Osornio (2022), Sam Lossou (2021, 2020-21), Brian Vu (2021), Seungeon Kim (2020-21), Ricky Gordillo (2019), Hugo Kametani (National Player of the Year) (2018), Kaskile Zawadi (2018), AJ Valenzuela (2017), Hector Banegas (2016), Jason Romero (2015), Arturo Vega (2014), Alexis Medina (2013), Eric Glad (2011), Minh Vu (2010, 2009) and Fernando Gauna (2007).

The Aztecs finished the season at 13-3-1 overall and 9-2 in ACCAC conference play. They fell to Glendale Community College in a penalty kick shootout in the NJCAA Region I, Division II Semifinal round. Despite the loss, they were selected as a No. 5 seed for the NJCAA Division II Tournament where they beat Rocky Valley College 5-1 but lost to Iowa Lakes Community College 3-0. Iowa Lakes went on to win the national championship.
