Aztecs men's tennis fall at Glendale CC

The Pima Community College men's tennis team (1-2, 0-2 in ACCAC) dropped two of the three doubles matches as the Aztecs fell at Glendale Community College 6-3 on Tuesday.

Mathieu Lancaster (Marana HS) and Juan Bravo (Nogales HS) won their No. 2 doubles match against Alejandro Tovar and Jesus Chino 8-5. The No. 1 doubles team of Richie Foitik (Santa Rita HS) and Francisco Ton (Nogales HS) lost a tight match 9-8 (12-10 in tie breaker) to Max Schell and Matt Deferme. Josh Henkel (Canyon del Oro HS) and Aldo Amaya (San Luis HS) lost to Matt Chavez and Yeovanny Laveaga 8-3 in the No. 3 doubles match.

Bravo helped Pima's cause by also winning his No. 5 singles match as he defeated Chavez 6-3, 6-3. Ton won a close first game and dominated the second in his No. 3 singles match win against Tovar 7-6 (5), 6-0.

Lancaster won the first game in his No. 2 singles match but lost in a three-set tie breaker against Deferme 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-3. Aaron Vasquez (Nogales HS) also won the first game in his match at No. 6 singles but had to retire during the third set as he lost 4-6, 6-4, 2-1.

Foitik lost to Schell 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles match and Henkel fell in the No. 3 singles spot 6-2, 6-1 against Chino.

The Aztecs will host Paradise Valley Community College in a conference match at the Tucson Racquet Club on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
