Aztecs men's tennis fall at Mesa CC

The Pima Community College men's tennis team (2-4, 0-4 in ACCAC) were shut out at Mesa Community College on Thursday 9-0.

Francisco Ton (Nogales HS) played a tough first set but fell against Nick Silvestri 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 3 singles match. Richie Foitik (Santa Rita HS) was shutout in his No. 1 singles match against Harry Busby 6-0, 6-0. Ton and Foitik lost to Busby and Max Wightman 8-0 at No. 1 doubles.

Juan Bravo (Nogales HS) dropped his match at No. 5 singles to Andy Nguyen 6-1, 6-0. Mathieu Lancaster (Marana HS) fell against Wightman at No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-0. Bravo and Lancaster lost at No. 2 doubles to Nguyen and Silvestri 8-0.

Aldo Amaya (San Luis HS) lost to Kevin McMahon 6-0, 6-2 in his No. 6 singles match. At No. 4 singles, Josh Henkel (Canyon del Oro HS) was shutout 6-0, 6-0 against Vitalli Kotelianets. Henkel and Aaron Vazquez (Nogales HS) lost their No. 3 doubles match to McMahon and Kotelianets 8-0.

The Aztecs will host their final home match of the season next Thursday, Apr. 9 against Glendale Community College at the Tucson Racquet Club. The match will begin at 1:30 p.m.
