Aztecs Men's Tennis Shut Out Against University of Wisconsin-EAU Claire

The Pima Community College men's tennis team (1-4) were shutout at the Tucson Racquet Club on Wednesday against the University of Wisconsin-EAU Claire. The Aztecs fell 9-0.

In singles competition, freshman Marc Avalos (Sunnyside HS) played his second straight three set match in as many days. He was blanked in the first set but came back to win the second set. He lost the tie-breaker in the end 6-0, 2-6, 10-6 to Kyle Hoffmann.

Freshman Dalton Reisig (Catalina Foothills HS) took a 3-2 in the first set and had a 5-4 advantage in the second set but lost to Will Weyenberg at No. 2 singles 6-3, 7-5.

Freshman Raj Singh Kaila (Yuma Union HS), sophomore Landon Trejo (St. David HS) and freshman Curtis Jeffery dropped their matches at No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 singles respectively 6-0, 6-0.

Sophomore Jesus Lopez (Canyon del Oro HS) fell in his match at No. 4 singles against August Badura 6-1, 6-3.

In doubles competition, Avalos and Reisig dropped their No. 1 doubles match to Hoffmann and Michael Mauthe 8-5 while Trejo and Jeffery lost at No. 3 doubles to Andrew Dahl and Andrew Rust 8-4. In the No. 2 doubles match-up, Singh Kaila and Lopez lost to Jordon Stevens and Weyenberg 8-0.

The Aztecs will get back to ACCAC conference play on Thursday at Paradise Valley Community College. The match starts at 1:30 p.m.
