Aztecs Men's Tennis Falls at Glendale CC

The Pima Community College men's tennis team (3-6, 1-4 in ACCAC) were swept on the road at Glendale Community College (5-2, 3-1) on Thursday in an ACCAC conference match-up. The Aztecs fell 9-0.

In singles competition, sophomore Landon Trejo (St. David HS) won a second set tie breaker but dropped the third set in his No. 5 singles match against Leo Rodriguez 6-1, 6-7 (1-7), 10-6. Freshman Curtis Jeffery dropped a close match against Yeovanny Laveaga 6-4, 7-5 at No. 6 singles. Trejo and Jeffery fell at No. 3 doubles to Jesus Chino and Laveaga 8-1.

Freshman Raj Singh Kaila (Yuma Union HS) play a tight first set but lost his match at No. 3 singles to Ryan Costello 6-4, 6-1 while sophomore Jesus Lopez (Canyon del Oro HS) dropped his No. 4 singles match against Chino 6-2, 6-1. Singh Kaila and Lopez fell at No. 2 doubles to Costello and Rodriguez 8-1.

Freshman Marc Avalos (Sunnyside HS) was shut out in the first set of his No. 1 singles match but played a close second set. He fell to Nick Silvestri 6-0, 6-4. In the No. 2 singles match, freshman Dalton Reisig (Catalina Foothills HS) lost to Matt Deferme 6-3, 6-3. The duo of Avalos and Reisig lost 8-2 in their No. 1 doubles match against Silvestri and Deferme.

The Aztecs will host a non-conference match tomorrow against the New Mexico Military Institute. The match will be at the Tucson Racquet Club at 11:30 a.m.
